“The Lord GOD has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.
Isaiah here is writing about the Messiah, Jesus Christ. As a man, Jesus was taught by the Father. Often we see Jesus in the Scripture taking time to wait on His Father in prayer, seeking His will, His guidance. And what the Father revealed to Him, He revealed to those who needed comfort, encouragement, and help. Hie ear was open to hear from the Father. He took time to listen.
What a powerful section of Scripture this is. How often I have made this my prayer; that I should know how to speak to him who is weary. The only way to hear is to listen; the only way to speak is to be taught; and the only way to be taught is to sit before the Father.
Often, when we are hurting, we don’t take the time to sit and listen. God so desires for you to just sit before Him and speak with Him. He desires to hear your joys and your sorrows; He wants to hear how you feel and what you think. Who could imagine such a thing? That the God of the Universe, desires to hear from us. But something more wonderful still is that He desires to speak to us. In our quiet times, our moments of stillness, just Him and us, He speaks in that still, small voice.
Take time to talk to Him today. And then, just sit quietly and listen.
